It's already December with all of the magic and brightness of the season. The staff and students are always very busy this month with special activities and lessons that must be completed before Christmas break.
Kindergarten and TK classes are busily preparing for their performance scheduled for the morning of December 21st.
The entire staff met to touch base on our progress with  The Leader In Me. All teachers and other classified personnel (instructional assistants, librarian and technician) have all signed up for a Path to Lighthouse program component. These include Leadership Environment, Integrated Curriculum & Instruction, Staff Collaboration, Student Leadership, Parent & Community Engagement, Leadership Events and Goal Tracking. We are expecting a visit from one of our FranklinCovey representatives to assist us in this overall goal. The Path to Lighthouse is a three year commitment toward achieving and maintaining Lighthouse status. This includes teaching  and modeling the seven habits, encouraging students to set goals and maintain responsibility for their actions and classroom responsibilities and to demonstrate good manners and respect for others. A Lighthouse school is a model school for Leadership. Overall, we are striving for Responsibility, Accountability and Identity for our students, our staff and our school. Right now, year one is looking pretty successful as we continue working with and for our students.
December's habit is Think Win Win. Students understand that this means to find a way to compromise so that all feel validated and can come to a peaceful solution.
Santa's Breakfast is Saturday, December 8th from 8:30-10:30. This has been a long standing tradition since 1990. The staff enjoys cooking and serving breakfast to parents, students and the community in a festive atmosphere. The Reindeer Lane store will be open and Girl Scouts will be selling baked goods. Proceeds go directly to North Country Student Body account. As always, Santa will arrive ready to hear the wishes of all students who visit him up on the stage in his easy chair.
The last day of school for this month is the 21st. It is an early out day. School is out at 12:20.
Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
